Upscale Kling video to 4K, free

Kling charges more credits per second at 4K than at 1080p. Spend credits on takes, not resolution, and upscale the keepers on your own computer.

Why not generate at 4K?

The 4K credit rate applies to every take, and most takes do not survive. Upscaling only the keepers on your own GPU costs nothing per second.

How it works

  1. Generate at 720p or 1080p

Spend credits on takes, not resolution.

  2. Drop the keeper into Acuta

Any aspect ratio, at least 720 pixels on the short edge, up to 10 minutes. Check three frames at actual pixels first.

  3. Export 4K

Your graphics card does the work. The file lands on your disk.

Questions

Does 720p work?
Yes. Anything with at least 720 pixels on the short edge goes to 1080p or 4K.
Is my clip uploaded?
No. It is read from your disk, upscaled in the tab and written back.
How long does it take?
A 30-second export takes at least 2½ minutes on an M3 Max, plugged in, a floor, not a promise. Plug in: on battery, Apple silicon runs roughly an order of magnitude slower.
How good is it?
It slightly over-sharpens the mid-tones on video, by 8–10%. That was measured, never resolved, and not investigated, and it can read as a synthetic crispness on skin and on gradients when you look closely on a big display. Nobody has run a review of logos and small type, so check your own in the preview before you sign off.
